anthropology of your inner world

aka an exciting new endeavor I hope you'll pilot with me!

for several months now I’ve been exploring how to expand on my creative workshops/teachings.in November I came across one of those cheesy, well branded Instagram accounts whose whole purpose is to sell things to you to help you become like them, aka, courses teaching you how to sell courses, workbooks teaching you how to make workbooks, “look at me, I am so successful at teaching others how to succeed, and I can teach you how to help others succeed too!”

that sounds more bitter than I mean it, but it is a weird little cycle online, isn’t it?

that said, I did get curious about a free challenge they were hosting. so I took part, translated parts of it to match my own vision, and developed a version of an e-course: anthropology of your inner world!

I am so excited about this. after a lifetime of being an artist, and years and years of trying on different modalities, styles, “niches”, and never finding a voice that felt truly my own, nor an output that truly mirrored what I saw in my inner world, I found COLLAGE!

collage helped me be the anthropologist to my own inner world, it helped me understand myself and my aesthetic as a creative, beyond just when I’m collaging! it continues to give me clarity on what I’m drawn to, what symbols mean something to me, and what makes MAKING worth it at all for me!

I’m really excited with what I’ve come up with as a means of guiding others through a similar process of discovery and play and self-reflection, all with the intention of gaining clarity on your inner world, aesthetic, and creative voice, no matter what medium you work in most.

OK SO. That brings me to ~*THE BIG BAD PILOT RUN*~, except it won’t be bad at all, and probably won’t be that big either. But it WILL be a fun and discounted way to try out my modules/exercises/ideas and offer your feedback on the flow of it all. I am trying to find the right balance between “evergreen” content that people can work through at their own pace, as well as interaction and face-to-face (online) time with me and others navigating the course! My hope is that this pilot process will help first and foremost to finding that balance.

I will be launching the pilot materials in early March, and organizing some Zoom calls sometime in March or April, depending on when most people in the pilot group are free. We will also have a discord or slack to help build some community/sharing/question asking etc. throughout. That said, because it is a partially “evergreen” course (isn’t that the prettiest term to mean, it will always be there for you?), if you cannot commit to specific Zoom Call Times, you can still take part in the pilot and offer your feedback in different ways. We’ll make it work. Let’s make it work for YOU!
